In my high school’s production of Pippin, our set was comprised of platforms hastily built by a not-so-great tech crew. They were sturdy enough but…
During “War is a Science” our Pippin decided to jump on one of the platforms and snapped it clear in half. Luckily no one was on this particular platform (yet). Amazingly, he jumped off the damaged platform without missing a beat and continued. Our Charlemagne didn’t even notice - he too continued. Us Band of Players already had to look horrified/disgusted/annoyed by Pippin’s antics so any expression shift was unnoticed by the audience.
The show went on. Set changes afterwards were extremely difficult with a broken set piece however.
